About me
Within the UIC Vice Chancellors Office of Diversity, Equity and Engagement Tanya Cabrera, serves as the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Inclusion. She is available to provide individualized support to undocumented (DACA/Non-DACA/ITIN) and mixed status students. Serving as the institutions Undocumented Liaison she provides academic assistance, financial aid, legal referral, and utilization of an integrative campus and community referral network. Her focus is on ensuring that undocumented and mixed status students are informed about the resources and programs available to them at UIC, in the city of Chicago, and in the state of Illinois.
In the fall of 2023, UIC opened the Rigo Padilla-Perez Undocumented Student Resource Center after a former alumni who resiliently fought for the immigrant community in Illinois and across the U.S. The center was designed by the UIC Fearless Undocumented Alliance (FUA) and current students utilize the space for rest and resources to support them to degree completion.
